A.L.D. Candlelight Dinner Theatre Presents: "Back Time"

October 21, 2009: As part of FOSTPL's continuing support of local authors, the group would like to share news of the debut of the original play entitled "Back Time" on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 7-9pm at the V.I. Bush Tea Garden on St. Thomas.

The play is written, directed, and performed by Clarence R. Cuthbertson of the Carabana Ensemble Theater Company of St. John. According to a recent release, "Back Time" is based on the book written by Keithlyn B. Smith and Fernando C. Smith entitled, "To Shoot Hard Labour". "Back Time" is a one man play depicting the life and times of the fictional oldest man in the Caribbean, affectionately known as 'Papa John'. The story unfolds in the post-slavery era on the island of Antigua from 1877-1982. The setting occurs in front of Papa John's house as he engages a group of curious children and weaves an incredibly interesting recount of growing up in the post slavery era. Papa John provides the audience with a vivid account of life in the plantation system immediately after slavery.

The V.I. Bush Tea Garden is located across from the Smith Bay Ball Field; $30.00 prix fixe admission includes the theatre presentation and an international gourmet dinner featuring Bush Tea Café. Seating in limited and reservations are requested. Telephone 227-3396 or email vibushtea@yahoo.com.
