On Saturday, December 31st, I'm asking everyone to join us in encouraging our local students initial correspondence to youth in Ghana by way of Skype (if possible on that day) and/or writing letters/creating arts and crafts, including their pictures and sending them in the mail on the same day as we plan to be in the Emancipation Garden/Natural Livity for this activity: Natural Livity/Emancipation Garden 12/31/11 from 11:00 am—3:00 pm.

Find attached photos and information of the youth in Ghana who helped Baba Boamah David in creating the Adinkra cloth for Baba Gene Emanuel. We've been speaking about connecting the youth there to those here starting with the Sankofa Saturdays youth and inviting other youth including the Environmental Rangers and youth in the Gladys A. Abraham Elementary schools (choir and drumming students primarily).

The adinkra stamps that were used in the creation of Baba Lebembe's cloth have been donated to Sankofa Saturdays by THREAD, Inc. (view their Facebook page) and will be shipped here with the intention of our using them as an arts/craft method to continue teaching both about Baba Lebembe from the symbols that were specifically chosen to represent his purpose(s) as well as African and Virgin Islands history and culture in the way of creating clothes (etc.) with the symbols stamped on them by the Sankofa Saturdays youth etc.

Also attached is the THREAD, Inc. Happy Child Club's proposed program and we'll be continually fundraising and asking for donations to assist with our supporting their tree planting in Ghana of 100 trees on December 25th.

At a later time, other initiatives will be shared in our assisting with their afterschool program. The United Virgin Islands Kwanzaa Schedule is also attached. One is letter sized and the other is legal (includes some photos from last year's kwanzaa events). Feel free to share.
